I can't cook: Awww the chicken

Image
hiii Final post! This inspirational cooking journey has came to an end unfortunately.  Felt like I had to make something really impressive for my last post. However, reiterating what I said in post 1, I'm so fussy and most likely wouldn't even eat any of the mad, impressive recipes which totally defeats the purpose. Decided instead that I'd compile a list of recipes off yon Tasty app that I still want to try and make in the future. After starting this blog, I was genuinely motivated to try and cook more but then the motivation dwindled off between starting a new job, uni getting a bit hectic etc. Oops. So hopefully if I have the time and motivation to actually cook something then I'll can look here for some ideas. To Try: BBQ Chicken  - literally wrap some chicken and wee potato slices in baking paper (don't even know if that's what it's even called) and fling it in the oven. Doable. Easy Butter Chicken - Recently had the butter chicken from  ...

I can't cook: Chinese 2.0

hii Two posts in two days, I'm spoiling you all now. Ur welcome xxx After yesterday's disastrous mug cake and the success of the cashew chicken in my first proper post I decided to give another Chinese-inspired recipe a bash. This time I chose a beef and broccoli noodle stir-fry . Spoiler alert: this actually turned out ok. And, like the cashew chicken, tastes 100x nicer than it sounds. See pic below for what it was meant to look like: See pic below for how it actually turned out: Those two pics basically look the same, mines might look a wee bit sadder but they are basically  the same. The recipe said to use flank steak which I don't even think is a thing in the UK. I have a really bad habit of spending more money than what is necessary and then complaining that I'm skint* so o bviously  I substituted it with a fillet steak instead. Oops. These things happen. This recipe was easy enough that even I, the most inept person in the world when it comes...

I can't cook: don't try this at home

hii Soz, it's been a while. I know you'll all be absolutely beside yourselves waiting on this next post! Unfortunately the recipe I’ve made for this post doesn’t look or taste as good as the cashew chicken from the last post . To be quite honest, the recipe from this post turned out rotten. Just putting that out there now; I don’t want anybody being disappointed when they come to the minging picture at the end. For my 2nd proper post I really fancied making some form of cake from the Tasty app but, me being lazy as per, I really could not be bothered actually making a cake. They take a lot of effort and involve having to go and buy ingredients, baking utensils etc. Thennnn I came across some recipes for those mug cakes that you make in the microwave, smashing. The Tasty app has loads of different options for mug cakes (strawberries and cream mug cake, cookies and cream mug cake, nutella mug cake etc.) I chose to make the birthday cake mug cake (link here ) beca...

I can't cook: I actually cooked

Image
hiii Right, I've actually cooked a proper meal. One that needed chopping boards and bowls for ingredients and everything.  I've been craving a Chinese for ages and haven't yet found a decent one near my flat so I decided that for my first proper post I'd make something Chinese-inspired; cashew chicken stir fry.  Promise it's nicer than it sounds! Incase anybody fancies having a nosy at the recipe, here's the link here . In my first post when I said I genuinely don't cook, I actually wasn't being dramatic for a change. 6 weeks after moving in, my chopping boards, pyrex jug and wee wooden spatula thing still have the labels on...  This recipe is so easy, even I managed to follow it with no issues. Basically, cut and cook your chicken, cut your veg, mix up your sauce and fling it all in a frying pan. I changed a few things; used tender stem broccoli instead of normal stuff because I'm fancy and added the cornflour in at the end because I...

I can't cook: my first post

hiiii I need to create a blog as part of my marketing coursework this year (yay). After panicking for weeks because I'm really boring and have nothing overly exciting to write about, today whilst discussing the fact that I hardly ever cook I had a wee bit of inspiration.   When scrolling through facebook I always come across those amazing food videos from the Tasty and  Proper Tasty * pages  and always say to myself: "Oh, I'll need to try that." Never happens.  I moved to Glasgow around a month ago and can honestly count on one hand the number of proper meals I've cooked in my new flat;  I genuinely live off of crisps, pot noodles and wee boxes of food that my mum has sent up for me (I wish I was joking, thanks mum).  The Tasty facebook page has an app so I'm going to write about some of the decent recipes I've seen on the app, will attempt them and then I'll post some pics of how well/badly it went! Easy! I've decided to use this blog a...
